Is Emmy D’Arcy’s new hair color a nod to their favorite drink? The ‘House of the Dragon’ star debuted the bright red hair at the GQ Men of the Year Awards on Nov. 16, and we can’t help but draw comparisons to a negroni sbagliato — the cocktail they catapulted into the spotlight after a viral interview last month. The fiery hue was hard to miss as they posed for photos in an all-leather outfit alongside rumored partner Thomas May Bailey. As costar Olivia Cooke joked in the aforementioned interview, D’Arcy looked “stunning” indeed.
Hairstylist Eleni Tses of Nūdo Studio was responsible for D’Arcy’s avant-garde dye job, replacing the icy blonde color they had previously. A natural brunette, the actor wears a long, white-blonde wig to portray Rhaenyra Targaryen in “House of the Dragon” but prefers shorter styles in real life. “The word I used to explain it was I’m almost allergic to a lot of hair,” they recently told British GQ when discussing their on-screen wigs. Before starring in the HBO series, they had a long mullet and baby bangs, almost like an “octopus” haircut.
Many celebrities have experimented with different shades of red these days, from Megan Fox’s striking auburn transformation to Shay Mitchell’s brick hair. Others opted for a more muted copper finish, such as Lily James and Sydney Sweeney. Who knows: maybe the “red negroni-sbagliato” will now become a big demand in salons, thanks to D’Arcy? Don’t forget to add Prosecco.
